Apa Itu News Item Text?
News item adalah teks yang memberitakan kejadian atau peristiwa penting yang layak diberitakan. Teks ini biasanya menjawab pertanyaan what happened, who was involved, where, dan when. Tujuannya memberi informasi kepada pembaca tentang peristiwa yang baru saja terjadi.
Struktur umumnya ada tiga:
Pertama, Newsworthy Event. Bagian ini berisi inti peristiwa di paragraf awal.
Kedua, Background Events. Di sini dijelaskan latar belakang, penyebab, atau kronologi kejadian.
Ketiga, Sources. Bagian ini memuat komentar, pernyataan saksi, atau keterangan dari pihak berwenang.
Ciri kebahasaan yang paling khas adalah penggunaan past tense, action verbs, saying verbs seperti said, stated, reported, serta adverb of time seperti yesterday, last week, on Monday.
Kalau kamu sudah pegang tiga struktur ini, menjawab soal news item biasanya cuma soal ketelitian membaca.

Ada beberapa kebiasaan yang bisa kamu latih supaya lebih cepat menjawab soal news item.
